We went to Stonehenge this morning as we had studied about it in class at the beginning of the year. It was impressive to see how huge the stones were and we wondered how the people could bring them there. It was a bit cold but not rainy however. Then we visited Stonehenge museum and it was interesting. Later we headed to Winchester for a guided visit ofWinchester College which is in fact a secondary school like Midhurst Rother College. It looked like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter’s books ! Then we walked past Jane Austen’s home (it was weird to imagine that she had lived in that house) then we entered Winchester cathedral which we found stunning. The architecture, the ceiling, the walls were magnificent considering the building techniques available at that time. Then we had some free time ! We finally visited the Great Hall where a guide explained a lot about its history and the events that have taken place there. We had to fill in a questionnaire and the best answers will be awarded a present!!! We are anxious to know what it will be !!! In brief, we had a lovely day with some sunshine in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce matin, nous sommes all\u00e9s \u00e0 Stonehenge puisque nous avons parl\u00e9 de ce site en classe en d\u00e9but d’ann\u00e9e. C’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s impressionnant de voir la taille des pierres et de se demander comment, \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque, ils ont pu les amener jusque l\u00e0. Il faisait un peu froid mais pas de pluie. Nous avons ensuite visit\u00e9 le mus\u00e9e sur Stonehenge et s’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant. Nous avons repris la route vers Winchester pour visiter l’\u00e9cole priv\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Winchester Coll\u00e8ge\u00a0\u00bb qui est l’\u00e9quivalent du coll\u00e8ge\/lyc\u00e9e de Midhurst. C\u00a0\u00bbest un tr\u00e8s bel endroit qui nous a fait se sentir comme \u00e0 Poudlard dans Harry Potter ! En partant, nous sommes pass\u00e9s devant la maison de Jane Austen et c’\u00e9tait \u00e9trange de penser qu’elle avait v\u00e9cu l\u00e0, puis nous sommes entr\u00e9s dans la cath\u00e9drale. Cette visite a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 parce que l’architecture, les murs, les plafonds sont magnifiques compte tenu des moyens de construction de l’\u00e9poque. Ensuite nous avons eu un quartier libre (et c’\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able) avant de visiter le Great Hall o\u00f9 nous avons appris beaucoup de choses sur l’histoire et les \u00e9v\u00e8nements qui s’y sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9s. Nous avons rempli un questionnaire et celui ou celle qui a les meilleures r\u00e9ponses aura un cadeau !! Nous attendons les r\u00e9sultats ! En somme, nous avons pass\u00e9 une agr\u00e9able journ\u00e9e avec quelques rayons de soleil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
