This morning we met at 7.30 to go to Midhurst Rother College. Going to Midhurst took us 1 hour, but during this journey we listened to 2 presentations, the first one was about the school system in Great Britain by Lou M and Carla, whereas the second one was about the participation of the UK to the European Union and the Brexit by Jules and Anthime. We walked around Midhurst to discover the town that is twinned with Nogent-le-Rotrou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, many houses there date from the Tudor period. Then we went to the high school. It was huge and very modern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We learned things about the school system in the UK and their way to learn. When they are 12, they attend manual courses in cookery, technics, graphics and textile and we loved that idea !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We shared some biscuits and some orange juice with our partners and we started to talk all together. Then after we were split in pairs with one British student and one French student. After we went in class with them, for example, we had maths, English, French or history. We didn’t have the same feeling, some thought it was very easy, whereas others thought maths were hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 1.30 pm students had lunch and we ate our packed lunch with them but it was very noisy because there were a lot of people (from 6th to 12th forms). We sadly left the British by 2 pm because many had tests in the afternoon and headed for Chichester by coach. The weather was very sunny all day long and Chichester is a beautiful town. So the teachers allowed us to have some free time there until 5.20 pm and we drove back to Guildford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous nous sommes retrouv\u00e9s vers 7h30 pour partir vers Midhurst Rother College, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 1 heure de route environ. Pendant le trajet, nous avons \u00e9cout\u00e9 2 expos\u00e9s, le premier sur le syst\u00e8me scolaire britannique gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Carla et Lou M, et un deuxi\u00e8me sur la participation du Royaume-Uni \u00e0 l’Union europ\u00e9enne et le Brexit par Jules et Anthime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons visit\u00e9 la ville car nous sommes arriv\u00e9s en avance \u00e0 Midhurst et beaucoup de maisons sont de style Tudor. Puis nous sommes all\u00e9s au lyc\u00e9e et avons assist\u00e9 \u00e0 une visite guid\u00e9e de cet \u00e9tablissement. Il est tr\u00e8s grand et moderne. Nous avons appris beaucoup de choses sur le syst\u00e8me scolaire britannique et leur fa\u00e7on d’apprendre. A 12 ans, ils d\u00e9couvrent 4 options manuelles : la cuisine, la technique, le graphisme et la couture. Nous avons ador\u00e9 cette id\u00e9e. Ensuite, nos camarades anglais nous ont offert une collation, puis nous avons \u00e9chang\u00e9 avant d’\u00eatre r\u00e9partis en bin\u00f4me (un Fran\u00e7ais avec un Anglais). Chacun a donc assist\u00e9 aux cours de son bin\u00f4me : math\u00e9matiques, fran\u00e7ais, anglais et histoire. Nous n’avons pas eu les m\u00eames impressions : certains pensaient que les classes n’\u00e9taient pas calmes et que les cours de math\u00e9matiques \u00e9taient plus faciles qu’en France, alors que d’autres pensaient le contraire. Ensuite, \u00e0 13h30, nous avons tous mang\u00e9 notre pique-nique avec les lyc\u00e9ens anglais, il y avait beaucoup de bruit dans le self car l’\u00e9tablissement accueille 1 200 \u00e9l\u00e8ves de 11 \u00e0 18 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tristement nous avons d\u00fb les quitter vers 14 heures car de nombreux \u00e9l\u00e8ves avaient des tests l’apr\u00e8s-midi. Donc nous avons pris le chemin de Chichester, il y a eu un beau soleil toute la journ\u00e9e et Chichester est une ville charmante. Les professeurs nous ont laiss\u00e9 un temps libre jusqu’\u00e0 17h20 et nous avons ensuite repris le bus pour revenir \u00e0 Guildford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
